Day 1
Acts 17:24-27 (NIV)
“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.”
Sometimes it can feel like God is far from us. When we don’t have the experience of intimacy with God, it becomes harder to trust Him. This passage clearly highlights a few things.
God created every one of us. He knows exactly what we will be doing, and where we will be. It is very comforting to know that God understands our circumstances.
We learn that God is near to us, near enough to reach out and feel our way towards Him. This passage says that all we have to do to realize this nearness is seek Him out (vs 27). No matter where we are or what we have going on, God is right there by our side, within arms reach. You can trust that God is near to you, and that He understands.
Application Questions:
How have you experienced God’s nearness to you this week?
How are you going to seek God today?
Prayer:
God, Thank you for being near to me. I pray that I will experience your closeness in tangible ways today. Help me to seek to be close to you in all areas of my life. Amen.
